Resource Center Office Helps Lander’s Vulnerable Residents Access Benefits and Support

  • Local Champion: Wyoming 211, Inc
  • Date Funded: March 19, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $2,345

In Lander, residents who are aging or have disabilities struggle to navigate the support available to them, particularly when accessing benefits that require computers, internet, and knowledge of complex application processes. Wyoming 211 exists as a statewide phone line and website to connect people with resources, but a navigator working in Lander quickly realized this approach wasn’t reaching the community’s most vulnerable residents who need in-person assistance filling out SNAP benefits, Medicare applications, and other critical forms. When she recognized the gap, she and her supervisor reached out to LOR with a plan to open Wyoming 211’s first and only physical office. The Aging and Disability Resource Center office, located inside the Lander Senior Center, will provide consistent in-person hours where residents can meet with a specialist who has the equipment and expertise to help complete applications, print documentation, and mail forms to the right places. LOR’s funding will help purchase essential office equipment including a laptop, printer, paper, postage, office chair, and supplies, creating a vital connector to services for Lander’s most vulnerable populations.
