Radar Signs Put the Brake on Libby Speeding

  • Local Champion: City of Libby
  • Date Funded: November 19, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $27,399

Libby has experienced an alarming increase in speeding, citations, and crashes as rapid population growth has intensified traffic throughout town. Without immediate feedback about their speeds, drivers often don’t realize they’re exceeding posted limits in school zones, residential neighborhoods, and construction areas. One staff member with the city’s streets department wanted to help drivers become more aware of their speeds and reduce speeding, so he reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help the city of Libby purchase portable solar-powered radar speed signs that display real-time feedback to motorists. The mobile signs can be moved to address safety concerns throughout Libby, helping protect pedestrians, cyclists, road workers, and motorists.
