Portable Equipment Enhances Connection and Comfort at Taos School Events

  • Local Champion: Taos Municipal Schools
  • Date Funded: October 15, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $9,847

At Taos Municipal Schools, outdoor events and activities play an important role in building community. However, many campuses don’t yet have built-in sound systems or permanent shade structures, which can make it challenging to host accessible, comfortable gatherings for students, families, and staff throughout the district.

To help address these needs, a Taos Municipal Schools team member developed a practical solution and reached out to LOR for support. His idea: purchase portable PA systems and shade tents to be shared across all school sites while the district works toward permanent infrastructure through a future bond initiative.

With support from LOR, Taos Municipal Schools will purchase three portable PA systems with Bluetooth speakers and eight shade tents that will be distributed across district campuses—including Taos High School, Ranchos Elementary, Arroyos del Norte, Taos Middle School, and Taos Cyber Magnet School. These portable resources will enhance a wide range of school and community events—from family nights and award ceremonies to student showcases and sporting activities—ensuring clear communication and sun protection at any location.
