Playground Updates Improve Student Safety at Weiser’s Park Intermediate School

  • Local Champion: Weiser School District 431
  • Date Funded: September 17, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

The playground at Weiser’s Park Intermediate School is dangerous. In some areas, the fencing is broken. In others, it’s nonexistent, allowing kids to walk onto a neighboring property that has large livestock animals. And that’s not even mentioning the heavy and antiquated soccer goal posts, the decaying baseball backstop, or the uneven baseball field. Two Weiser School District 431 staff members wanted to make the playground safer, so they approached LOR with ideas to solve the playground’s many problems, including installing new fencing and replacing the field’s goal posts. LOR’s funding will help Park Intermediate School purchase and install new perimeter fencing, a new baseball backstop, and new soccer goals, giving students a safe place to play and learn.
