New Technology Helps Lander Swimmers of All Abilities Reach Their Potential

  • Local Champion: Lander Swim Club
  • Date Funded: February 14, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

In Lander, swimming is more than just a sport—it’s at the heart of community life, with the high school boys’ team winning their 29th state championship and the Lander Swim Club’s waitlist stretching over a year for new members. The interest level, though, has outgrown the current capacity of the pool facility, making it difficult for swimmers to continuing improving. A local volunteer came up with an technological solution to this problem and reached out to LOR for support: purchase modern training equipment that will help swimmers improve their technique, reduce disqualifications, and achieve personal bests, while also helping coaches move swimmers through skill levels more efficiently to address the program’s long waitlist. LOR’s funding will help with the purchase of an underwater camera system, backstroke wedges, and specialized handsets, giving Lander’s more than 250 swimmers access to the same technology they’ll encounter at competitions in larger facilities across Wyoming.
