New Technology Expands Digital Access at Weiser Public Library

  • Local Champion: Friends of the Weiser Public Library
  • Date Funded: February 21, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $8,570

Many Weiser residents lack digital devices at home, creating significant barriers to accessing essential online resources and services in today’s increasingly digital world. When the librarian at the Weiser Public Library noticed how outdated desktop computers and a lack of computer literacy were causing frustration for patrons and staff alike, she reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help Friends of the Weiser Public Library, a nonprofit that raise funds and support for the library, purchase new desktop computers and DVD players for checkout, while also funding a teacher to provide digital literacy classes for community members of all ages and skill levels. These resources will give Weiser residents the tools and training they need to access online services, improve their job prospects, and enhance their overall quality of life.
