New Stage Creates Opportunities for Safe School Celebrations in Taos

  • Local Champion: Taos Municipal Schools
  • Date Funded: May 7, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $22,848

For years, the Taos school district has used a makeshift plywood platform as an outdoor stage for significant celebrations. But over time, the wood has begun to warp, causing it to become unsafe. Plus, assembling the platform’s many pieces is cumbersome and impossible to do inside, meaning there is no stage for indoor events. Taos High School’s senior class was determined to give back by solving this problem, so a student representative reached out to LOR for help purchasing an indoor/outdoor stage.

LOR’s funding will close the gap between the money fundraised by the Class of 2024 and the total price tag, enabling the seniors to purchase a stage and ramp and opening up more opportunities to celebrate students and engage families across the district for years to come.
