New Seats Expand Community Event Offerings at a Beloved Lander Venue

  • Local Champion: Fremont County Pioneer Museum
  • Date Funded: February 6, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $23,780

The Fremont County Pioneer Museum’s performance arena is a popular venue Native American dance and other events, hosting more than a dozen dances each summer. But the current seating for audiences creates a problem: The wooden slab seats were installed 20 years ago from salvaged material and are in poor—verging on dangerous—condition. Recognizing the new seating would not only make the benches safer and more comfortable, but would also allow the city and the venue to expand community event programming, one staff member came to LOR for help replacing the benches. LOR’s funding will support the purchase of 20 steel benches, ensuring the shows goes on—and the community has access to even more this summer.
