Tables and Chairs Support Community Gatherings at Monte Vista Church

  • Local Champion: First Presbyterian Church of Monte Vista
  • Date Funded: March 9, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $5,455

Many Monte Vista community members rely on First Presbyterian Church as an accessible gathering space for meetings, social events, and essential services, but the church lacks enough tables and chairs to safely and comfortably support this level of use.

After recognizing that inadequate furnishings were limiting the church’s ability to function as a welcoming, reliable hub, the pastor reached out to LOR with an idea.

LOR’s funding will help purchase durable tables and chairs to better accommodate the many groups that use the space throughout the year—including Girl Scouts, AA, interfaith fellowships, youth groups, and community members attending free meals offered three evenings per week. The new furnishings will strengthen the church’s capacity to host larger public events and continue serving as an accessible, no-cost gathering place for a broad cross-section of Monte Vista residents.
