A Community Run Series Brings Cortez Residents Together on Local Trails

  • Local Champion: Squirrel Congress
  • Date Funded: March 5, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $4,990

Cortez residents have few free outdoor events that regularly bring people together, limiting opportunities for physical activity and community connection. After talking with local businesses, running clubs, and runners, one Squirrel Congress co-founder came up with a solution. LOR’s funding helped Squirrel Congress launch a free community run series on local trails. The series will feature four organized summer events, connecting residents with healthy outdoor activity, bolstering local run groups, and supporting small businesses through post-run hangouts.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Onward! A Legacy Foundation.
