New Lighting Improves a Popular Lander Venue for Community Celebrations

  • Local Champion: Fremont County Pioneer Museum
  • Date Funded: March 17, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $9,775

In Lander, the Livery Stable at the Pioneer Museum serves dual purposes as both an exhibit hall showcasing historic wagons and vehicles and a popular event venue for weddings, concerts, and community celebrations like Challenge for Charities. However, the historic barn has no lighting at all—limited windows angled poorly for natural light leave museum visitors unable to see display details, event guests struggling to see across tables or performers on stage, and people loading equipment during dusk or evening hours working in darkness. When the museum manager noticed bookings continuing to grow along with complaints about lighting, he reached out to LOR for help—especially as severe museum budget cuts made addressing the issue internally impossible. The three-zone lighting plan will install overhead fixtures to illuminate both the audience area and historic displays, spotlights for the stage, and outdoor lights at both entrances for safe loading and unloading. LOR’s funding will help purchase eight high bay fixtures, track lighting with six spot heads, two outdoor lights, and professional installation labor, immediately improving safety and visitor enjoyment.
