New Cultural Events Series Bring Diverse Celebrations to Monte Vista

Monte Vista residents have limited access to cultural events that reflect and celebrate the community’s diverse traditions and histories, often requiring travel outside the region to attend culturally relevant performances and celebrations. After hearing repeatedly from residents that local programming does not adequately reflect the community’s diversity, a Ski Hi Complex Events Center team member reached out to LOR with a plan to deliver more inclusive cultural events.

LOR’s funding will support musical entertainment, cultural performers, equipment rentals, promotional materials, labor, and refreshments to launch a new series of events, including three Latino band concerts and at least six free community activities, such as dance lessons, themed community dances, and free family fun nights.

These events will create opportunities for Monte Vista residents to gather, celebrate, and connect in their own community while experiencing traditions that reflect the diverse cultures and interests of local families.
