New Class at Questa High School Provides Healing Through Movement and Mindfulness

  • Local Champion: Questa Independent School District
  • Date Funded: December 12, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $8,820

Students at Questa High School report high levels of anxiety and depression and have limited access to resources that can help them manage their mental health challenges. So, a district employee reached out to LOR with an idea: offer a new, bi-weekly class led by a certified, trauma-informed movement and mindfulness practitioner, that will teach students how to reconnect with their bodies and release stored tension or trauma.

Funding from the LOR Foundation will cover the cost of curriculum planning and instruction, yoga mats, foam blocks, and printed materials to support in-class learning, ultimately helping to improve the long-term health and well-being of Questa youth.
