Muralist Turns Portable Classroom into Point of Pride at Central Wyoming College

  • Local Champion: Central Wyoming College
  • Date Funded: June 18, 2021
  • Grant Amount: $1,000

When Central Wyoming College brought a standard shipping container onto its Alpine Science Institute campus to serve as the food-processing classroom for its farm business incubator and farmer training programs, staff could see right away that the unsightly metal structure didn’t fit in with the historic surroundings. The ASI is located on a picturesque apple orchard in the Lander Valley that’s filled with dramatic views and boasts hiking and biking trails that the public is encouraged to use. One CWC staffer had a solution. With funding from LOR they were able to hire an artist and purchase supplies to transform the outside of the corrugated metal unit into a stunning mural that fit beautifully into its surroundings.
