Local Volunteer Leads Wellness Classes for Taos Elders

  • Local Champion: Taos Local
  • Date Funded: February 1, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $4,800

Nearly 30 percent of Taos County residents are over the age of 65, yet there are limited opportunities to support an active lifestyle among seniors. One local resident and fitness instructor wanted to solve that. Bonnie Golden holds a certification in Older Adult Health and Fitness and volunteered to lead a yearlong wellness class for seniors at no cost. But she faced a challenge in securing funding for a space that would allow her to host the classes regularly. LOR’s funding helped support the rental of the Taos Center for the Arts twice a week for senior wellness and movement classes.

This project is fiscally sponsored by the Taos Community Foundation
