Landscaping Equipment Creates Safer School Grounds in Questa

  • Local Champion: Questa Independent School District
  • Date Funded: September 23, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $9,158

Overgrown weeds and tall grass around Questa’s school buildings provide cover for rattlesnakes and nesting areas for rodents, posing safety risks to students and staff during recess, sports, and other outdoor activities. When school administrators realized they lacked the proper equipment to manage these hazards, they turned to LOR with a solution to maintain the school grounds year-round.

With LOR’s funding, the Questa Independent School District will purchase essential landscaping tools—including a zero-turn mower, string trimmers, chainsaws, and leaf blowers. This equipment will enable the district to control overgrowth, reduce pest activity, and create a safer, more accessible outdoor environment for students and staff, while also protecting school facilities from wildlife intrusion.
