Lander’s Family Resource Center Connects Parents to the Schools

  • Local Champion: Fremont County School District #1
  • Date Funded: August 18, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $11,301

Lander parents often struggle to connect with and navigate the school system, partially because—according to feedback the schools received—entering the main office can be intimidating for parents. To address this issue, the school district’s family engagement coordinator has been working to create a more inviting space, off site, where parents can have an easy connection point with the school when families are in need of support. To help make the space more comfortable, the district reached out to LOR, which helped the district purchase coffee tables, swivel and rocking chairs, rugs, a sofa, and other amenities to help parents feel less intimidated when approaching the school for help.
