Lander’s Community Meal Provides Protein- and Dairy-Rich Options for Locals

  • Local Champion: Good Samaritan Meal
  • Date Funded: March 26, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

Lander’s Good Samaritan Community Meal has served more than 50,000 meals since 2017. Today, it provides about 300 meals a week. The trouble is that increased grocery costs—especially for meat and dairy products—have made it more difficult to provide healthy, protein-rich meal options. This is especially true since the community meal lost some funding from a countywide grant that many initiatives were supported by. Volunteers recognized they needed some additional funding to bridge the gap to help them buy more protein-dense foods until additional funding sources could be secured. LOR’s support will help with the purchase of nearly five month of meat and dairy products.

This project is fiscally sponsored by the Lander Community Foundation
