Kitchen Equipment Helps Libby Prepare for Emergencies

  • Local Champion: City of Libby
  • Date Funded: September 9, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $2,480

Libby City Hall’s Ponderosa Room serves as the community’s primary emergency shelter during disasters or evacuations, but the room’s aging kitchen appliances are unreliable and near breakdown. Without functioning equipment, the city has to depend entirely on outside aid and prepackaged meals rather than being able to prepare hot, comforting food for displaced residents. City staff wanted to ensure Libby could fully support residents during emergencies, so they reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help the city of Libby purchase a new refrigerator, dishwasher, and range for the Ponderosa Room. The appliances will enable staff and volunteers to prepare fresh meals for community members during emergencies, providing both nourishment and a sense of normalcy when people need it most.
