Hearing and Vision Screenings Keep Libby Children on the Right Path

  • Local Champion: Families in Partnership, Inc.
  • Date Funded: March 27, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $15,500

Early childhood screenings are essential for ensuring that children are healthy and meeting their developmental benchmarks. Despite their importance, many families in Libby are missing these important milestones because they don’t have access to pediatric hearing and vision screenings. The staff of Families in Partnership, Inc., a local nonprofit that serves new parents and their children, realized that the lack of screenings was a growing health problem for the Libby community. They wanted to help address the issue, but they didn’t have the equipment they needed to perform screenings. Looking for support, the group’s executive director reached out to LOR. LOR’s funding will help Families in Partnership, Inc. purchase a spot vision screener and otoacoustic emission (OAE) hearing screener, helping to fill in Libby’s health care gaps.
