Greenhouse Upgrades Boost Year-Round Food Production in Questa

  • Local Champion: Localogy
  • Date Funded: June 20, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $25,369

Questa’s short growing season and high elevation make it challenging for the community to produce enough fresh food locally. At the same time, the Sangre de Cristo Youth Ranch Summer Camp’s greenhouse was being underutilized. A young intern working with the camp recognized an opportunity to transform the old greenhouse into a year-round growing facility. In need of support, he reached out to LOR with his solution. LOR’s funding will help Localogy and the Sangre de Cristo Youth Ranch Summer Camp purchase equipment, including a refrigeration system, solar panels, drip irrigation, and greenhouse materials, to create a functional year-round growing space. The upgraded facility will provide free workshops for community members to learn sustainable growing techniques while producing fresh vegetables for campers, volunteers, and donations to the local food bank.
