Free Self-Defense Classes Build Confidence for Weiser Youth

  • Local Champion: Friends of the Chamber of Commerce
  • Date Funded: March 30, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $9,975

Many Weiser families cannot afford martial arts classes, leaving Weiser children and teens without access to self-defense training. One local business owner who teaches jiu-jitsu wanted to fill this gap and offer free classes to community youth, so he reached out to LOR with his idea. LOR’s funding will help Friends of the Weiser Chamber of Commerce purchase training mats, protective wall mats, uniforms, and equipment to launch free weekly jiu-jitsu classes. The classes will teach Weiser youth self-defense, discipline, and confidence while providing physical fitness and social connection.
