Fishing and Hunting Courses Help Lander Adults Get Outside

  • Local Champion: Wyoming Wildlife Federation
  • Date Funded: May 8, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $1,400

While Lander is known as a hub of recreation, many of the learning opportunities that focus on hunting and fishing focus on youth participation. This leaves adults who were not mentored in these hobbies as kids with both educational and financial barriers for getting outdoors. To address this problem, staff from the Wyoming Wildlife Foundation is partnering with state-wide and local organizations to equip adults with hunting and fishing skills, and they’re teaming up with Wyoming Catholic College to run a pilot program in an effort to find out what types of instruction works best for adults. To support the effort, LOR helped fund equipment and supplies including notebooks, cooking gear, food, and the transportation cost for those attending courses.
