Event Supplies Enable Launch of Inclusive Annual Event in Monte Vista

  • Local Champion: Monte Vista School District NO. C-8
  • Date Funded: December 12, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $5,000

Monte Vista families with young children lack access to free, inclusive activities that support engagement and relationship building. So, a Pirate PTO member reached out to LOR with an idea: establish a ‘Sweetheart Dance’ that will be hosted each year around Valentine’s Day and provide all children and their caregivers (e.g., parents, grandparents, etc.) with the opportunity to celebrate and connect with other community members.

LOR’s support will fund a DJ, food and drink, and the purchase of equipment that the PTO can utilize at this annual community-wide event and other district events throughout the year, including items such as a sound system, a projector and screen, tables and chairs, and lighting.
