Community Poetry Box Showcases Work by Lander Poets

In Lander, many talented poets create work that remains unknown to the broader community, with few opportunities for residents to discover and enjoy local poetry. After recognizing this disconnect between Lander’s poetry community and poetry lovers, one local poet had an idea to bridge this gap: build a Community Poetry Box similar to a Little Free Library. This centrally located, weather-resistant box will be regularly stocked with free copies of poems by local writers—both published and unpublished—giving residents a chance to discover the quality and quantity of poetry being created in their community. The project creates a daily touchpoint for engaging with local creativity while providing poets with a new outlet to share their work, fostering connections between writers and readers throughout Lander. LOR’s funding helped purchase lumber, a metal pole and stand, and printing costs for the first year of operation.
