Community Meetings Connect Cortez Residents with Housing Construction Loans

  • Local Champion: HomesFund
  • Date Funded: October 6, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $5,500

Rising home prices have made homeownership increasingly difficult for Cortez residents, but a new state-funded construction loan program supported by HomesFund aims to help residents build their own affordable housing. Hoping to get the word out about the nonprofit’s new programs, one HomesFund staffer reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help HomesFund host a series of educational events, advertise through print and radio, and partner with local employers to inform Cortez residents about low-interest construction loans and specialized mobile home financing. The outreach will help local workers access affordable homeownership opportunities by providing the educational and financial resources families need.
