Children’s Choir Gives Lander 3rd-5th Graders More Singing Opportunities

  • Local Champion: A Lander local
  • Date Funded: June 10, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $1,000

After noticing his students loved singing and discovering their parents wanted more opportunities for them to perform, an elementary music teacher had an idea to launch a children’s choir. He piloted a small program this year with about 30 interested singers, hosting two performances that were a success. The choir charges a minimal $30 fee for 11 to 14 weeks of practice plus a recital, barely covering costs, so more funding was needed to really grow the project. LOR’s funding will help cover the fall session expenses and allow family fees to go toward spring sessions, giving the program stability to grow. LOR’s funding helped purchase music, binders, snacks, an accompanist, and secure a rehearsal venue so Lander children can keep singing.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Lander Community Foundation.
