Cameras Empower Students to Put Libby Middle High School’s Newspaper Back in Print

  • Local Champion: Libby Middle High School
  • Date Funded: October 30, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $998

Libby Middle High School’s student newspaper always played a vital role training students for future careers, helping them to develop essential skills like writing, editing, and research. But during the coronavirus pandemic, the newspaper was forced to shutter, and it has remained dormant since. Students have been eager to restart the paper, but they have lacked the essential equipment like cameras that they need to publish. When one teacher saw her students’ enthusiasm for reviving the school newspaper, she reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help Libby Middle High School purchase two digital cameras with lenses and other photography equipment, empowering Libby’s student journalists to once again capture school life and develop valuable skills.
