Appliances Help Provide Essential Services for Taos Locals in Recovery

  • Local Champion: Rio Grande Alcohol Treatment Center Inc.
  • Date Funded: February 24, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $9,937

More than 50% of Taos residents in recovery are experiencing homelessness and lack access to basic amenities like laundry services, hot meals, and showers—necessities for maintaining dignity and focusing on recovery. When as a part of its Recovery Friendly Taos project Rio Grande Alcohol Treatment Center Inc. was donated a building to serve as a recovery center, staff saw an opportunity to create a one-stop location where clients could access essential services. They reached out to LOR for support getting the facility up and running. LOR’s funding will help Rio Grande Alcohol Treatment Center purchase and install appliances, including a washer, dryer, stove, and refrigerator so that Taos locals can access vital support services and concentrate on recovery.
