An Electric ATV Comes to the Rescue in Lander

  • Local Champion: Central Wyoming College Foundation
  • Date Funded: November 21, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $10,599

When Lander residents are injured on the trails near town, the terrain makes it difficult for first responders to evacuate them safely. It’s become a particular problem near Central Wyoming College’s Alpine Science Institute (ASI), a popular trailhead for Lander residents to explore the foothills of the Wind River Range. To address this problem, a staffer from ASI reached out to the LOR Foundation with ideas to improve trail-safety. With LOR’s help, ASI was able to purchase an electric ATV that will produce little noise pollution and will be able to access parts of the trail system that have historically made search-and-rescue operations difficult.
