Adjustable Hoops Give Weiser’s Young Athletes a Shot

Weiser elementary students struggle to participate in basketball because standard-height hoops are too high, leading to frustration and reduced interest in the sport. After years of community discussion about this barrier, city staff found a solution and reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help the Weiser Recreation Department purchase and install four adjustable basketball hoops in the local Pioneer Elementary gym. The hoops will allow the recreation department to offer age-appropriate leagues and clinics, helping young athletes develop proper shooting form and build a lifelong love of basketball.
