ADA-Compliant Sidewalk Ensures Safe, In-Person Access to Questa’s Essentials Services

  • Local Champion: Village Of Questa
  • Date Funded: September 25, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $17,355

Questa’s Police Department, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) all operate out of the same building located on Old Highway 3. In recent years, a growing number of residents have expressed frustration that a building housing such essential services is not ADA-compliant, meaning it is not accessible to locals with physical disabilities. The issues of accessibility and safety surrounding this building worsen each winter as the walkway in front of the EMS offices accumulates ice buildup that is nearly impossible to remove and dangerous for all building visitors. So, a Village employee approached LOR with a solution: install an ADA-compliant sidewalk that can be maintained to ensure accessibility year-round.

LOR’s support will fund the professional services and supplies needed to lay the new sidewalk, providing all Questa residents with in-person access to these important community resources.
