A Portable Training System Equips Cortez’s K-9 Search and Rescue

  • Local Champion: K-9 Search and Rescue
  • Date Funded: June 24, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $9,050

Around Cortez, search and rescue volunteers and first responders lack the equipment needed to conduct effective trainings, limiting the quality and reach of life-saving skill development across the region. One volunteer with K-9 Search and Rescue recognized this critical problem, so she reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help K-9 Search and Rescue purchase a high-quality projector, a portable projection screen, and audio equipment—including speakers, cables, carrying cases, and poles. The training system will serve not only the nonprofit but also partner organizations, including the sheriff’s office, police department, and Montezuma County Search and Rescue, extending professional-grade training to first responders across southwest Colorado.
