A Playground Creates a Safe Outdoor Space for More Libby Children

  • Local Champion: Kootenai Valley Christian School
  • Date Funded: May 9, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $29,498

The southern side of Libby lacks safe playground equipment for preschool-aged children, leaving families with limited options for outdoor play. The playground at Kootenai Valley Christian School—which serves 92 students, 160 homeschool co-op participants, and neighborhood children—has deteriorated to the point where rust, loose components, and structural instability have made it unsafe to use. School staff wanted to give more kids access to physical activity and motor skill development, so they reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help Kootenai Valley Christian School purchase and install new playground equipment, giving families a place to gather and providing the only outdoor play area for children in south Libby.
