A Mower Preserves the Cortez Cemetery’s Sacred Space

  • Local Champion: Cortez Cemetery District
  • Date Funded: May 13, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $7,000

The Cortez Cemetery serves as the final resting place for generations of local families, but the cemetery’s aging mower has broken down beyond repair, threatening the grounds’ appearance. One member of the Cortez Cemetery District wanted to make sure that this sacred community space received the care it deserved, so he reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help the cemetery district purchase a commercial mower that can efficiently maintain the grounds, ensuring that visiting families continue to find a serene, well-maintained space that honors their loved ones.
