A Lending Closet Creates a Resource Hub for the Cortez LGBTQ+ Community

  • Local Champion: Out and About
  • Date Funded: March 19, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $9,750

LGBTQ+ residents in Cortez often struggle to find resources tailored to their needs and safe spaces to connect with others. Seeing how a lack of local support affected Cortez’s LGBTQ+ residents, the co-founders of Out and About, a new nonprofit, reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help Out and About purchase an enclosed trailer to serve as a mobile lending closet for gender-affirming clothing and hygiene products, along with supplies for community gatherings and events. The lending closet will double as a resource hub, providing a safe space where Cortez’s LGBTQ+ community members and allies can build connections and support networks.
