A First-Of-Its-Kind Seminar Demystifies Homeownership in Libby

  • Local Champion: Community Action Partnership of Northwest Montana
  • Date Funded: June 2, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $1,300

Many Libby residents hope to purchase homes, but there are few local resources to help first-time homebuyers. It’s a problem that came to the attention of the Community Action Partnership of Northwest Montana (CAPNM), and staff there wanted to provide a seminar-style homebuyer education class to introduce Libby locals to financial literacy specialists, realtors, lenders, insurance agents, home inspectors, and more. CAPNM members reached out to LOR for help funding the course and making it accessible (previously, Libby residents would have to travel to a neighboring county and pay $75 for such a course). With LOR’s help, Libby will offer its first-ever such course, which will cover subjects like home insurance, loans, and taxes, and help locals take an important step toward home ownership.
