A Fire Suppression System Opens the Door to a Commercial Kitchen in Questa

  • Local Champion: VFW Post 9516
  • Date Funded: February 4, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $5,540

Without a public commercial kitchen in Questa, local food entrepreneurs and community groups have no way to prepare food at scale. In 2019, members of VFW Post 9516 tried to open the post’s kitchen for residents to use, acquiring new equipment. But the kitchen could not become fully operational because it still lacked the fire suppression system it needed to meet state requirements. LOR’s funding helped VFW Post 9516 purchase and install a new fire suppression system, allowing the kitchen to open for community events and residents’ cooking and baking needs.
