A Discussion Series Raises Awareness for Community Schools in Taos

  • Local Champion: 100% Taos County Initiative
  • Date Funded: September 11, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $2,500

Many Taos locals are unaware of the benefits of community schools—a specific model and designation in Taos County—and the advantages and resources they can offer local kids and all residents. To address this problem, local officials hoped to bring Taos residents together through a series of conversations to raise awareness of the benefits of community schools. The conversations would not only inform community stakeholders about these schools, they would also strategize how these schools could access more resources. Funding from the LOR Foundation was used to purchase meeting supplies, food, and beverage for three meetings, which will hopefully lead to stronger learning outcomes for students.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Taos MainStreet.
