A Disc Golf Course Gives Weiser a New Spin on Recreation

  • Local Champion: City of Weiser
  • Date Funded: December 15, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $29,958

Weiser residents have limited access to free outdoor activities that promote physical and mental health. After one local high school student completed a senior project researching disc golf’s benefits and presented his findings, Weiser City Council approved building an 18-hole course on city property. The problem was funding. Working together, the student and city staff developed a plan and reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help the city of Weiser build concrete tee pads and purchase professional disc golf baskets, signs, and benches to launch the course. The new course will help to revitalize Weiser’s Mortimer’s Island, transforming the park into a new destination for Weiser residents and visitors.
