A Cortez Leadership Program Promotes Growth for New and Veteran Teachers

  • Local Champion: Public Education & Business Coalition
  • Date Funded: May 2, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $9,000

Experienced teachers in Cortez often lack targeted professional development that helps them continue to improve their skills and grow their mentorship of other educators. Hoping to open new opportunities for veteran teachers, one staff member with the Public Education & Business Coalition reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help the Public Education & Business Coalition create a fellowship program in which seasoned Cortez educators will mentor new teachers while receiving individualized coaching around goal setting and future planning. The program will create a new leadership pathway for master educators, using their expertise to help address local teacher retention challenges.
