A Bike Rack Encourages Cycling to Cortez Businesses

  • Local Champion: Community Radio Project (KSJD)
  • Date Funded: July 15, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $3,000

Cortez’s downtown area has limited bike parking, discouraging residents from cycling to local businesses and restaurants. One staff member with KSJD, Cortez’s local radio station, recognized this gap, so he reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help KSJD purchase and install a six-bike rack at the busy corner of Market and Main Streets, creating a convenient and safe place to park bicycles near downtown businesses. The project will not only provide practical infrastructure for cyclists but also support KSJD’s plans to promote biking culture through special group rides and community events, encouraging more residents to choose cycling as a way to support local businesses.
