Winter Gear Lending Library Gets Taos Youth Out on The Slopes

  • Local Champion: Town of Taos
  • Date Funded: February 26, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $27,875

Taos Ski Valley recently partnered with the Town of Taos to establish a series of free ski days, during which students can participate in snowboarding and skiing lessons at no cost. This initiative goes a long way towards making snow sports financially accessible to youth in the area, but a local official recognized that a lack of appropriate gear might prevent students from taking advantage of this opportunity, so he reached out to LOR with an idea: establish and promote a winter gear lending library.

LOR’s funding will purchase hundreds of pairs of snow pants, goggles, and gloves, cover the costs of laundering the gear for one year, and help to promote the program among district families.
