Welding Equipment Creates Career Pathways for Libby Students and Residents

  • Local Champion: Libby K-12 Schools
  • Date Funded: April 23, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $13,900

Libby residents interested in careers in welding and metal fabrication face limited opportunities to develop these valuable trade skills. Though Libby Middle High School offers welding classes for both students and adults through a partnership with Flathead Valley Community College, the program lacks the specialized equipment needed for the advanced certifications that local employers require. One teacher wanted to expand these career opportunities for students and community members, so she reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help Libby Middle High School purchase new welders and welding stools for its workshop, allowing participants to pursue higher-level certifications that can lead directly to jobs.
