Water System Upgrades Protect Drinking Water for Questa-Area Households

  • Local Champion: Cerro Mutual Domestic Water Consumer Association
  • Date Funded: August 18, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $5,600

For approximately 80 households on the northwestern side of Questa, safe and reliable drinking water depends entirely on a community-operated system that currently lacks adequate treatment and pumping equipment. After recognizing the risk this posed to her neighbors, a member of the Cerro Mutual Domestic Water Consumer Association came up with a solution: purchase equipment and supplies to strengthen water treatment, monitor metal levels, and maintain consistent system operation. LOR’s funding helped the Cerro Mutual Domestic Water Consumer Association purchase two water pumps, a chlorine F&T colorimeter, a Well Sounder 2010 PRO – Sonic, a Water Level Meter with case and probe, and sampling supplies. Together, these upgrades address core infrastructure needs—including proper chlorination, water quality monitoring, and reliable pumping—to help ensure residents have access to drinking water that meets safety standards and restore confidence and stability in a critical community water source.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Localogy.
