Water Infrastructure Unlocks a Community Farm for Cortez Indigenous Growers

  • Local Champion: Four Corners Food Coalition
  • Date Funded: March 11, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

Four Corners Food Coalition’s Cortez farm provides Indigenous community members with space to grow cultural foods and learn traditional agricultural ways, but the property lacks essential water infrastructure for drinking and cleaning. Hoping to solve this barrier and make the farm fully functional, staff with Four Corners Food Coalition reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help Four Corners Food Coalition install a water line, spigot, and washing station at the farm. The water infrastructure will provide Indigenous youth and community members with new opportunities for land-based learning, building food sovereignty in the Four Corners.
