Water Containers Bring Safe Drinking Water to Libby

  • Local Champion: Libby K-12 Schools
  • Date Funded: December 16, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $2,139

Catastrophic flooding in Libby has compromised the city’s water supply, forcing more than 500 Libby Public Schools students and staff to go without drinking water during school days. Thinking quickly, school leaders came up with a solution: transport large quantities of potable water from an unaffected county well to serve students during the crisis. In need of support, they reached out to LOR. LOR’s funding will help Libby Public Schools purchase two bulk containers that can transport 250 gallons of safe drinking water each day. Now, after schools closed early for the holidays due to the disaster, the district has made the water containers publicly available to Libby residents at the Libby Central Charter School, ensuring the entire community has access to clean drinking water.
