Vehicles Expand Driver Education for Libby Teens

  • Local Champion: Libby K-12 Schools
  • Date Funded: November 21, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $30,000

Libby Middle High School’s driver education program has instructors ready to train 80 students each year, but the school only has enough vehicles to serve less than half that number. Without enough vehicles, students face monthslong waits to complete required driving hours. Families who can't afford to wait must pay private instructors $50-75 per hour—costs that are beyond most Libby families. The school's driver education teacher wanted to eliminate the bottleneck, so he reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR's funding will help Libby Middle High School purchase two vehicles equipped with instructor brake systems. The additional vehicles will allow the program to serve every interested student, ensuring more Libby teens receive proper driver training, and improving road safety throughout the community.
