E-Bikes Strengthen Public Safety at Questa Events and Parades

  • Local Champion: Village of Questa
  • Date Funded: September 9, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $9,998

Questa’s community events and parades often draw large crowds into areas where patrol vehicles can’t easily maneuver, while foot patrols limit how quickly officers can respond. That gap in mobile coverage became especially clear during last year’s Homecoming Parade, when a vehicle bypassed roadblocks and officers were unable to respond quickly and safely. So, a member of the Questa Police Department approached LOR with an idea: purchase two e-bikes and necessary safety equipment, giving officers a faster way to navigate congested, pedestrian-heavy spaces and respond to public safety needs without adding vehicles to crowded areas. LOR funding will enable the department to purchase two fully equipped and assembled 750–1000-watt e-bikes, establish operating procedures, and train officers in safe operation and crowd navigation before deploying the bikes at community events, festivals, and parades.
