Community-Led Plan Maps a More Connected Taos

  • Local Champion: Downtown Taos
  • Date Funded: September 2, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $29,720

Taos has long lacked a connected network of safe walking and biking routes linking parks, schools, neighborhoods, businesses, and cultural destinations. And while the community continues to invest in transportation and public spaces, those efforts have not been guided by a shared vision. Recognizing this gap, a Town of Taos Council member reached out to LOR with an idea: engage residents in creating a community-supported blueprint for a network of routes that makes it easier and safer for people to move between key destinations throughout Taos. LOR’s funding will help Downtown Taos hire an urban planning consultant to assess existing infrastructure, gather input through stakeholder meetings and a community questionnaire, and develop the Taos Cultural Loop—a shared vision for making Taos safer, more connected, and more accessible for residents and visitors for years to come.
